One of the main reasons I started this blog was to keep creative. As a result, I’ve come to reconnect with a lot of photographs I’ve taken. This shot is from ECMA week in Fredericton. I remember enjoying GTB’s show a lot more than Wintersleep that night, any night really.
This picture got me thinking just how much cable is used when a band sets up to perform in a venue like this. If you consider that fact that mic and speaker cables are usually 25′ or 50′ long, instrument cables average around 15′, and then there’s patch cables joining effects pedals, tuners and what have you, there’s some distance involved.
A quick glace at this shot including the spooled xlr cable on the stage, and we’re looking at well over 500′. That’s over 12 telephone poles in length! And there’s a lot of bands out there that aren’t worth three telephone poles let alone $5.
